Beautiful Day

At my three-day birthday weekend at The Farm San Benito, I was flashed by the prettiest male…

peacock.

We were all sitting in silent meditation class facilitated by Ms. Fe Narciso when two male peacocks were grandstanding each other.

Since I was toting my digital SLR, I sat in half lotus but was not concentrating on my meditation.  I watched nature instead and silently prayed, come on God show me.

In less than a minute, here’s the vision:

I had to stand up and sprint to the opposite end of the Ampitheather (where meditation class is held that morning, as a special request granted by Teacher Fe) to get a better shot.  The rest of my classmates and teacher stayed in their meditation.

I witnessed this peacock instead, and gave him an audience of one.

He let me click away with my 4GB memory card.  Beautifull.  Even with his broken feathers (which I wanted to pull out from the root so that a new one can grow in it’s place) he’s all the more beautiful in my eyes. I know that by animal nature, he’s flashing his tail feathers for a mate and his meanings do not have anything to do with my reflection/meditation.  But for me, what I saw is someone not selfish of showing his beauty even when it’s “broken.”

The other peacock (much bigger that Mr. Flasher and had no damage to his tailfeathers) visited me the day before at our cottage.

He posed for me right but he never opened his tailfeathers even when I kept coaxing him.  Pakipot o selfish…or maybe the tailfeathers are too long and heavy that it’s painful to fan them out.

So, we did portraits instead.  This peacock seems to enjoy standing majestic in his photos.  Later on I discovered that all of the postcards and photos of The Farm featuring this peacock had him standing majestic.  Not once did he open his tail.  Oh well, he crows every morning and wakes me up like a friendly alarm clock during our stay there.

After all that taking photos with Mr. Flasher, I sat down in silent meditation.

PS:  The creatures at The Farm seem to love being photographed.  Here are a pair of ducks and a caterpillar that’s the most interesting caterpillar I’ve seen.  I found it on the yoga mat.

I wonder, would there be a peacock, duck and caterpillar pose in yoga…?
